Who we are
In 2002, eight farmers came together to create the Franklin Farmers Market,
a 501(c)(5) non-profit agricultural organization with the mission to keep Tennessee’s beautiful farmlands green and growing.
The FFM provides a connection between farmers and the public to create a partnership that assures a more sustainable future for everyone.
The Franklin Farmers Market delivers a reliable means for local farms to stay productive and profitable. Farmland that is productive is less likely to disappear into urban sprawl or development.
With a large base of loyal customers, the Franklin Farmers Market has grown from a summer-only marketplace to a year-round operation and the number of farms participating in the market each year has increased from 8 to over 70 farms.
The Franklin Farmers Market works to support a diversified, sustainable agriculture system by operating with three main goals:
Keep local family farms productive and profitable by providing a reliable venue for farmers to sell what they grow or produce. By doing that, the market strengthens and builds financial sustainability for both farmers and the local economy.
Give the public easy access to healthy, locally-grown fresh food. All vegetables and fruits; meats, dairy and herbs at the Franklin Farmers Market come from local farms.
Educate the public about the positive impact that farming has on their community’s health, economy, aesthetic values and the environment.
FAQs
Are Dogs Allowed At The Market?
As much as we love dogs, they are not allowed at the Franklin Farmers Market because of safety and sanitary issues. Neither are any other types of animals. The only exception to this rule is service dogs.
Where’s The Best Place To Park?
Parking at the market can be pretty tight, especially around the Liberty Pike parking lot entrance. By using the Franklin Road entrance or the Liberty Pike entry way near the Franklin Road intersection, you’ll have a better, quicker access to the parking lots. It is also easier to find a parking space alongside the Factory complex during the market’s peak hours.
Does The Market Have An ATM?
There is not an ATM at the market, but many of the farmers do accept credit and debit cards. It is also better to bring smaller bills, such as $1’s,$5’s or $10’s so the farmers and vendors can easily make change for you.
Is The Market Open Year-Round?
The Franklin Farmers Market is a year-round market. The summer season of the market is May through October every Saturday 8am – 12noon. The winter season of the market is November through April with hours of 9am – 12noon. Send us a message if you have any questions!
If you have a question about the FFM that is not listed below, stop by the information booth at the front of the market shed.
The Franklin Farmers Market is community driven Saturday morning farmers market bringing together the best local farmers in the state of Tennessee. We are committed to providing the highest quality locally farm grown or Tennessee produced products possible. We consider many factors in the selection process of approving every vendor application we receive.
The FFM board requires that all market vendors “make it, bake it, raise it or grow it” and the board reserves the right to accept or refuse anyone as a farmer market vendor. Important factors in our selection process for farmers and vendors include product quality, growing practices, presentation, product uniqueness, eco-friendly or recyclable, marketing practices and the right product mix to ensure a successful farmers market experience.
You will be contacted to provide any additional needed information and/or samples of your product for review by the board. We are currently full in the product categories; baked goods, artisan crafts, meats, soaps, and woodwork.
We kindly request that you not approach market management regarding your application during market hours. Much time and effort go into preparing for our most important 5 hours on Saturday to support all our Farmers, Bakers and Artisans. We do not interview new vendor applicants on Market Saturdays.
